[Accordion] Overview
The Appointment Reminder feature is designed to maximize efficiency by allowing reminders to be automatically scheduled and sent before an upcoming event.
However, if you prefer to manage communications differently or need to pause notifications for specific scenarios, you can easily adjust your settings to prevent the reminders from being automatically generated.
[Q] Schedule Event Type
[A] You can designate specific events to never receive automated reminders based on how they are categorized.
You can do this for any specific Schedule Event Type by enabling the "Suppress Reminders" setting. You can find this configuration by navigating to:
Utilities > Maintenance > Schedule Event Type Input
Once this setting is turned on for an Event Type, any event tagged with it will automatically prevent the automated Appointment Reminder from being placed.
[Q] Patient Group
[A] You can also designate all patients assigned to a specific primary Patient Group never to receive automated reminders. You can update this by enabling the "Suppress Reminders" setting, which is located at:
Utilities > Maintenance > Patient Group Input
Once this is checked for a specific Patient Group, the system will automatically skip reminder generation for all patients belonging to that group.
[Q] Patient-Specific Setting
[A] You can also manage this directly within an individual patient's file so they never receive the automated reminders.
To set up a patient to stop receiving Appointment Reminders via their Demographics record, navigate to:
Patient > Demographics > Demographics tab > locate the Contact Information section and check "Suppress Appointment Reminders".
Once this box is checked, the system will exclude the specific patient from all automated Appointment Reminders.
[Q] Viewing the Appointment Reminder Log
[A] You can review the Appointment Reminder Log to see the status of your reminders. When you suppress the reminders using Event Type, Patient Group or Patient-specific settings, the Reminder Log will show you that by displaying specific text in the Reminder Status column. For example:
